How long does the flea shampoo remain effective?
We have two types of flea shampoo; insecticidal and herbal repellent. Beaphar Herbal Dog Flea Shampoo, and the Beaphar Flea
Shampoo (repels fleas) for cats and dogs work by repelling fleas. Beaphar Insecticidal Dog Shampoo and the Beaphar
Dog Flea Shampoo contain active ingredients which actually kill the fleas on contact. Once applied, the product either
works to repel the fleas, or the dead fleas drop off or can be removed using a flea comb. As both are rinsed out
of the coat before drying, little product will remain in the coat for lasting efficacy. The shampoos should be used
as part of a flea control programme, including long term flea treatment (such as a collar, or spot-on) and household
treatment such as household flea sprays or fumigators. Please note that additional treatments should not be used
on the pet until 7 days after they have been washed using a flea shampoo.
I’ve accidentally got shampoo in my dog’s eyes - what should I do?
The eyes should be rinsed with plenty of fresh, clean water as soon as possible. If the owner cannot do this, or the dog
will not allow them to, or the dog is in distress, then it is recommended that a vet is consulted as soon as possible,
taking the product packaging.
