Can my rabbit catch fleas from my cat or dog?
Yes, it is possible for rabbits to catch fleas from your cat or dog, especially house rabbits. If you discover your pet has
fleas, you will need to do three things:
- Treat your cat/dog with a flea product to kill fleas, such as Beaphar FIPROtec® Spot-On.
- Treat your rabbits with a suitable anti-parasite product that kills fleas, such as
Beaphar Anti-Parasite
Spot-On for Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Ferrets and Rats.
- Treat your home with a flea spray containing an insecticide and an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR), such as
Beaphar FLEAtec Household Flea Spray.
It is essential that you treat your rabbits with a specific, small animal anti-parasite product. You must NOT use
Beaphar
FIPROtec® Spot-On or other cat/dog products on your rabbit. Products containing fipronil are highly dangerous to rabbits,
and can result in death.
To prevent a flea infestation in the future, you must make sure you’re flea treating your cat or dog regularly and providing
protection for your home. You can do this easily by treating your cat with
Beaphar FIPROtec® COMBO,
which works on your pet and in your home. You can find out more about
how it works in our blog

If you have any concerns or questions relating to flea treating your rabbits, we recommend consulting your vet.
