Beaphar
Beaphar is a Dutch trend-setting producer of a complete line of health and care products for small pets for both the national and international market. The products are marketed under the home brand and also under private labels. Sale of home brand products is mainly taken care of by specialised pet stores. The line of Beaphar A-brand products includes over 500 different products, not only health products like anti-flea products for the pet and its surroundings, anti-worm products, products for the eyes and ears and vitamin and tonic preparations, but also a complete range of care products like skin and coat protection products, common hygienic products and diet alimentation products. In short; Beaphar has all that is special. Special for your pet.

Development
The company is established over fifty years ago and evolved out of the pharmacy activities of Mr Bernard Aa, the father of the present president/owner J.Henk.Aa. Since then, Beaphar is engaged in developing and producing health and care products for small pets. In the seventies, the organisation is booming, directed by president J.Henk Aa. Several other companies, with activities relating to Beaphar’s area or product range, are taken over.

After this period of large extension, attention in the eighties is mainly directed to improving the position in the market. Beaphar also starts with its own department of Research & Development and a laboratory for product and quality control. Since the introduction of the flea collar for cat and dog in 1983, Beaphar offers a complete range of insecticides for small pets.

As from the eighties, the company is also active outside the Netherlands. Beaphar GmbH is established in Germany. In 1994, the biggest take-over in the company’s history takes place: the English company Sherley’s, daughter company of the huge Swiss chemistry and pharma organisation Ciba Geigy. Their home brand has become market leader on the British market during their 100 year history. Also in Belgium, France and Spain, markets are operated locally.

The market
Through its wide base, Beaphar takes up a strong competitive position on both the European and the global markets. The company is also successful on the relatively new markets of Eastern-Europe and the United States. The range of products that is offered is wide, just like the market for these products.

Continuous research and product development are the most important elements for a forward-looking leading position in the market.
